The President and his advisors during the Bin Laden capture |
As the world 'celebrates' the one year anniversary of the killing of Sheik Osama Bin Laden by U.S. forces, a new, and yes damning, memo has been released that shoots-down President Obama's account of the historic capture.
According to a recent Time magazine article, the following memo––that was written by Leon Panetta, former head of the CIA––reports thusly:
Memo from CIA Chief Panetta |
"The timing, operational decision making and control are in Admiral McRaven’s hands. The approval is provided on the risk profile presented to the President. Any additional risks are to be brought back to the President for his consideration. The direction is to go in and get bin Laden and if he is not there, to get out. Those instructions were conveyed to Admiral McRaven at approximately 10:45 am."
What??? I mean... with all due respect, but a lowly Admiral by the name of McRaven made the most important call of this century to take Bin Laden out? Not the Commander-in-Chief? Obama didn't make the call? Gimme A Break!!! Is this truth?
If it is... well it paints him as not in control. How will other world leaders respect or fear him if (as this memo depicts) he is viewed as a wuss... as a back-bencher who let's others beneath his pay-grade take the risks and make the hard decisions?
We need the president's spokesman, Jay Carney... or better yet... we need to hear from President Obama himself to call a prime time press conference, or summons the media to the Rose Garden. He must speak to the American people and Clear. This. Up.!!!
Because... if this memo is not challenged or adamantly refuted by the White House post haste, it will negate the President's lone foreign policy bragging right: that He gave the order to kill the #1 terrorist, responsible for the 911 tragedy.
Gov. Mitt Romney's Super Pacs will eat Obama's lunch with this one.
As the world awaits an answer....
